The standard
Exchange votes for enforceable policy, resources, and protection; never spend them as ritual loyalty.
Why it matters
The ballot is neither salvation nor meaningless by definition. It is a weapon whose value depends on organization. Malcolm X warned that Black voters repeatedly helped determine elections without receiving proportionate returns. A nationalist voting strategy sets demands before endorsements, aggregates votes, negotiates publicly, maintains alternatives, and reviews outcomes. Voting may be combined with protest, litigation, institution-building, economic pressure, independent candidacies, or abstention where strategically justified. The standard is not participation for its own sake. The standard is measurable leverage.
Practical example
A coalition conditions endorsement on a community land fund, contract targets, police transparency, and a written implementation schedule. It withholds support when candidates offer only symbolic appointments.
Failure test
Automatic loyalty teaches political institutions that Black support can be obtained without delivery.
